Résumé de l'exposé
This seminar presents recent progress in high-fidelity modeling and observations of aircraft contrail formation. The work combines large-eddy simulations with Lagrangian particle microphysics to study contrails across the jet and vortex regimes, including the transition from early exhaust plume mixing to wake-vortex evolution. We investigate how atmospheric and aircraft-engine parameters influence ice crystal formation and radiative forcing, with comparisons between conventional Jet A and hydrogen-fueled aircraft. The seminar also discusses efforts to connect simulations with ground-based camera observations and flight/meteorological data, highlighting current challenges in predicting contrail formation.
